The Heart of Racing set for WEC and IMSA Double-Header Weekend

Phoenix, AZ (July 8, 2025) - The Heart of Racing is back on track this weekend, racing on two different continents with outings in both Canada and Brazil. The team will target more podium success North of the border with a single Aston Martin Vantage in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, as well as the continued World Endurance Championship campaign, which follows the 24 Hours of Le Mans outing with a race in Brazil.

The two programs will feature the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage in IMSA’s GTD category, and the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage and No. 007 and No. 009 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyries set to race at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo, Brazil.

Canada’s Roman De Angelis will make a one-off GT return to his home country, sharing the No. 27 Heart of Racing Vantage with Casper Stevenson. This weekend the IMSA GTP class will have time off for the Grand Prix at CTMP, freeing De Angelis to attempt a back-to-back GTD class win in Canada. Tom Gamble, who normally shares the seat with Stevenson, will be competing in Brazil with the team’s WEC program.

Stevenson is coming off of a win at the Sahlen’s Six Hours at the Glen which marked his first IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship win. The young Brit is currently second in GTD Championship point standings heading into the sixth race of his IMSA debut season. Stevenson will make his CTMP debut this weekend.

South of the Equator, Ian James, Mattia Drudi, and Zacharie Robichon will pilot the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage in WEC’s LMGT3 category. The trio most recently finished fourth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans after the team secured its first pole position of the season. The No. 27 Heart of Racing Team hope to be back in podium contention after securing a second place finish there last year.

Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble will be behind the wheel of the No. 007 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie, while Marco Sørensen and Alex Riberas will join forces in the No. 009 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie after both teams secured their best WEC finishes at Le Mans last month.

The Grand Prix of CTMP will take the green flag at 2:00pm ET Sunday, July 13th on USA Network in the United States, the two hour and 40 minute race will also be streamed live on IMSA’s YouTube channel for international viewers. Ahead of the Canadian race, catch all six hours of WEC action live on max or FIAWEC.TV with the race starting at 10:30am ET on Sunday, July 13th.

Heart of Racing Driver Quotes:

Roman De Angelis : “I’m very excited to not only be back in a GT car for the first time since Daytona earlier this year, but also to be back for what is the only Canadian race of the season. I always enjoy racing in front of home fans at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, which in my opinion is one of the greatest tracks on the IMSA calendar.”

Casper Stevenson : “CTMP looks like a fantastic track and I’m excited to be sharing the car with Roman this weekend. Roman has had lots of success here in the past so I’m sure his experience will help me get up to speed at this unique track. I’m looking forward to getting up there and getting going!”

Mattia Drudi : “After just missing the podium at Le Mans, I think our target is to finally clinch a podium spot. We have shown great pace in basically every round so far, but couldn’t get it done for one reason or another. I think we have the chance to be there and the team had success there in the past. It will be my first time there, but it looks like a super nice track to drive. It’s going to be nice to race in Sao Paulo. Excited to see what the weekend has in store!”

Harry Tincknell : “I’m really looking forward to Brazil after our strong showing at Le Mans. I’m hoping that all the information we gained and the steps we have taken in the first half of the season could push us in a positive direction in the pack at Interlagos. Hopefully we can challenge for points and perhaps get into the Hyperpole session, as Marco did at Le Mans. Le Mans was a big step forward for us. Reliability was strong, our mid-corner pace was good, and the car got better as the weekend went on. Interlagos is a track that I have always wanted to drive since I was a little kid watching Formula 1, so it is going to be great to be out there. I have never been to Brazil so it's a lot of first moments for me this weekend.”

Alex Riberas : “I’m very excited and very much looking forward to racing back in Brazil. São Paulo is one of my favourite tracks in the world and I think that the Valkyrie is going to feel really cool to drive around such a magical place like Interlagos. After Le Mans I believe the team has got momentum, we are all very excited and working very hard and I am sure Brazil is going to be the next step in the development of this season.”
