Team Notes

  • Gunn pitted from tenth approximately 15 minutes into the 100-minute sprint race. Shortly after taking over, De Angelis was assessed a drive-through penalty after the team jumped the wall fractionally early during the pit stop.

  • Near the halfway mark, De Angelis was forced into the wall following contact with a fellow GTP competitor. Despite sustaining minor damage, the No. 23 Valkyrie continued on in tenth position.

  • A second caution with 20 minutes remaining bunched the field back together. De Angelis lined up ninth for the restart with 13 minutes left on the clock.

  • A third caution was displayed just one lap later, promoting De Angelis to eighth for the ensuing restart. However, after the race returned to green-flag conditions, contact from behind dropped the No. 23 Aston Martin Valkyrie back to tenth, where it ultimately finished.

Chatting with the drivers…

Roman De Angelis : “We came into the weekend knowing that this was going to be a tough race for us. It’s not a track that we did well at last year, so we knew it was going to be a rough weekend, and one we would have to fight pretty hard for. We made a lot of progress throughout the weekend. Our race pace was quite good compared to how we'd been running all weekend. Everyone did a great job pushing through. Now we look towards Watkins Glen.”
