Stevlot, Belgium (May 11, 2025) - The Heart of Racing Team secured a fifth place finish in LMGT3 category at Spa-Francorchamps during the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship on Saturday. The Aston Martin THOR Team had an all-time WEC high finish of 13th and 14th after competing within the top ten throughout the six hour endurance race.

Ian James, Zacharie Robichon, Mattia Drudi and the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team rebounded after a tough previous round, getting knocked off course in Imola. The trio once again earned championship points with a fifth place finish. James continued the team’s 13 Hyperpole streak qualifying with the sixth fastest lap time on Friday. Robichon went on to set a fast lap of 2:18.314-seconds to secure a third row starting position for Saturday’s race.

James piloted the No. 27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage for the first 50 laps, working his way up through the field from sixth to lead for seven laps before passing the Vantage over to Robichon. The Canadian continued to lead the LMGT3 field for another 16 laps until a drive through penalty put the No. 27 Heart of Racing team in the back of the field. Robichon and Drudi drove their way back through the field from twelfth to battle for second before the last pit stop. Ultimately, Drudi and the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage crossed the finish line in fifth.

“Just a little bit disappointed in the result, but looking at P5 as disappointing is a good thing,” said Robichon. “You know we expect a lot from the team, but we had two issues during the race that were out of our control, but as a team we did a bang on job. Now we are even more motivated going into Le Mans.”

Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble drove the No. 007 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie securing a WEC high finish for the Aston Martin THOR Team with 13th place after hovering in championship points contention for 15 laps. Marco Sorensen and Alex Riberas finished 14th in the No. 009 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The Heart of Racing’s WEC squad will be back in action June 11-15 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the meantime, the Heart of Racing’s IMSA team will compete at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday May 11th.
